Personally, I would say this is something else, a political statement. Then again if I went by the definition of art which is the product of human creativity or the creation of beautiful or significant things, then technically this is art. So this "art" is a combination of a political statement and art. I think having a large penis on the wall is cool and all but I wouldn't consider it art. If he's trying to make a political statement then he probably should have done something else to get a rise out of people. This "art" will just elicit a few raised eyebrows but I don't think it would really change anyone's mind about Obama.
Basically, art is just form and function; however, because it is also subjective, many times it can produce many disagreements within its spectators. In this case, he really believed it should not be censured; protecting himself by the 1st commandment. However, in every society there are limits. Yazmany crossed one of them, calling it art. This is the product of his nonsense creations. So, from my own perspective, I believe Yazmany's art is very offensive and provocative. It is obvious, that his main idea was to scandalize many people and have a minute of fame. If he really is a creative person, I think he could have used his time to create ART. In this case, I cannot called it art; this is something else.
Perhaps one positive factor of the economic "downturn" is the fact that in the art world, at least, the wheat will be separated from the chaff. Chaff = something else
